What is the North Star of Technology?
In recent years, we have invested heavily in a robust, stable and scalable platform: a modern architecture that is being further developed by a team of more than 100 colleagues. Through the use of cloud migration, microservices and data science, we can respond to new developments and trends at lightning speed. With over 600.000 customers visiting Wehkamp's website and app daily, we know exactly what their needs are.
Not only during shopping the use of technology is crucial, also the logistic process is driven by technological innovations and processes. This allows us to offer its customers extremely fast and reliable deliveries, which are also sustainable due to the use of tailor-made packages that allow more packages to be transported in the same space
The flat organisational structure enables the tech team to make and implement decisions quickly. Because of the Agile principles it allows the team also to respond flexibly to the market.
What is your journey pursuing this North Star?
In the coming years, the focus will be even more on tech and the application of data to be able to approach and inspire our customers more personally. In fact, every day we work on 2,9 million personalised pages that are tailor made to each Wehkamp customer in real-time.
To integrate innovations and new technology even faster into its website and app, Wehkamp starts a new Tech Hub. In the new head office, which will be moved into in November, the Wehkamp Tech Hub will have its own environment with plenty of room to work together, learning from each other and sharing results. A place where we can experiment and innovate and work independant on our e-commerce platform. In addition, a lot of work will be done from home, supported by a digital Wehkamp Tech Hub environment.
With this way of working we want to offer our customers a more inspiring, current and personalised shopping experience in the coming years. In this way we execute our strategy to offer customers a relevant assortment at the right moment.
The Wehkamp Tech Hub offers work to around 130 technicians who are involved with, among other things, algorithms, new technology and data. The implementation of the Cherry organisation model, is the starting point of the Tech Hub.
